Sorrel 'Lyonski' 3000 Seeds (Rumex acetosa L.) Vegetable Heirloom

Green variety of a sorrel family, this super fast and easy growing vegetable/herb is valued for its pointed and bright lime-green leaves growing up to 60cm tall. Those leaves can be harvested to add a tart lemony flavor to salads, sandwiches, and soups or used make a tasty pesto. For culinary uses, the plant is best when be harvested young. It tastes a little like lettuce, so the baby spring leaves are ideal for salad mixes. When the plant begins to toughen and mature, the leaves can be cooked like spinach or used in stir-fries.  It can be harvested at baby leaf stage and is a great lettuce substitute in salads and sandwiches as it doesn't go limp. It is most delicious when cooked; the flavour is delightfully acidic. It is a fantastic partner to fish, veal, eggs, and potatoes in soup or gratin. Sorrel is used fresh and raw in Asian cuisine It is known as rau chua (sour herb) or rau thom (fresh herb) in Vietnamese. Sorrel contains high amounts of vitamin C and several B vitamins, in addition to calcium, potassium, magnesium and powerful antioxidants. 

Fast and easy growing, this plant is great for small and large spaces, grown in pots/container or directly in the ground. 
Once established, it can be treated as a 'cut and come again' crop. The plant should produce greens for 8 to 10 years. It is hardy, fast growing cultivar and well-proven to be productive under almost any conditions. Once you've got a clump going it needs no attention other than when you want to eat it. Takes 10-14 days to microgreens, 40 days to baby leaf and 50 days to full maturity. 

Planting:  year round in tropical climate (controlled temp and humidity conditions recommended); in temperate climates sow sorrel in the garden as early as 2 to 3 weeks before the average date of the last frost in spring. 
Soil: well-worked, well-drained soil rich in organic material. Preferred soil pH 5.5-6.8.
Sowing depth: 1.2cm.
Spacing: 2.5-7cm apart. Thin successful seedlings from 30-45cm apart when plants are 6 to 8 weeks old. Space rows 45-61cm apart if growing to full size in a garden.
Growing in a pot, choose a 15-20cm pot. 
Light: funn sun/partial shade. Choose bright, sunny location with lots of light. If afternoon sun is burning hot, provide some shade. 
Watering: keep the soil evenly moist. Water when soil starts to feel dry to the touch. Avoid overwatering, which causes rot.
Fertilizing: we highly recommend using TSM Organic Growth Activator to speed up the germination of the seeds, supports healthy growth and promotes abundant yields.
Pests & diseases: Aphids can attack sorrel. Control them by pinching out infested areas or hosing the aphids off the plants. Sorrel has no serious disease problems. We highly recommend using TSM Organic Neem Oil for treatment and overall protection from various pests and diseases.
Companion plants: plant sorrel with strawberries. Avoid planting with tall plants.
