Pumpkin

Planting season: year round in tropical climate; Sow pumpkins in the garden in spring when all danger of frost has passed and the soil temperature has reached 18°C and night air temperatures are above 13°C. Start pumpkins indoors 2 to 3 weeks before the average last frost date in spring; transplant them into the garden 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost.
Germination tip: Pumpkin seed coats are hard. To speed germination, soak seeds in warm water for 1 hour before planting. Seeds germinate in 5 to 10 days.
Soil: grow best in loose, well-worked, well-drained soil rich in organic matter with a soil pH of 6.0 to 6.8.
Sowing depth: 2.5cm deep.
Spacing: if grown outdoors directly in the ground: When seedlings are 5-7cm tall, thin to the 2 or 3 strongest seedlings. Cut off thinned seedlings at the soil level to avoid disturbing the roots of the remaining plants. Thinned seedlings should be spaced 45-91cm apart. If grown in containers: choose a wide, 10-gallon container & train the vines to grow around the container.
Light: very bright area with plenty of sunlight. At least 6-8h a day for the best performance.
Moisture: keep the soil evenly moist. Regular water, best when soil starts to feel dry to the touch.
Fertilizing: pumpkins are heavy feeders. We highly recommend using TSM Organic Growth Activator to speed up the germination of the seeds, support healthy growth and promote high yields.
Pests & diseases: can be attacked by squash borers and cucumber beetles. Susceptible to bacterial wilt, mosaic virus, and mildew. We highly recommend using TSM Organic Neem Oil for natural overall protection and treatment againsts pests and various diseases.
Companion plants: Plant with corn or with flowering herbs such as dill or bee balm near pumpkins to attract bees and other pollinators.
