Basil 'Thai' 300 Seeds (Ocimum basilicum L.) Herb Heirloom

Heirloom variety with beautiful, 3-4in (7.6-10cm) long, sweet and spicy flavour with light anise overtones. Posses beautiful, red-purple stems and showy pink-violet, highly aromatic flowers. Thai basil is know to contain antioxidants, anti-cancer properties, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal propertiesAdding it in smoothies or juices can aid in weight loss and promote better digestion as well. Aside from ingesting Thai Basil, you can also bruise the leaves and inhale its aroma to relieve stress. If you want to take the extra step, you can even turn it into a balm so you can rub it around your forehead and below your eyes to promote relaxation. I don’t know about you, but growing an anti-stress herb at home wouldn’t be such a bad idea in crazy times like these. Moreover, that it grows easy, vigorously and fast, keeping away the parasites. Reaches 14-18in (35-45cm) tall. Perfect to flavour variety of dishes, drinks, desserts and beautiful as ornamental. Makes wonderful container plants, are great companions with tomatoes. Can be grown indoors or outdoors. It's important to note that while sweet basil is an annual herb that only lasts for one growing season, Thai basil is a perennial herb that can keep growing for two to three years. 

Growing: Planting season: year round in warm climates; early spring in temperate climates, starting seeds indoors, 6 weeks prior the last spring frost date or direct seeding after the danger of last frost is gone and soil is workable.

Soil: light fertile, rich in organic matter soil.

Sowing depth: 1/4in (0.6cm) deep.

Optimum soil temp.: 70F (+21C) for the best growth.

Spacing: 10-12in (25-30cm) apart.

Light: full sun.

Watering: regular to keep the soil moist but not wet.

Fertilizing: recommended.

Pinch out the flower heads as soon as they appear to make sure the leaves will continue growing.
