Early, perennial, cold resistant, early maturing winter onion heirloom, growing in the same place for 3-5 years. Whole plant including flowers, leaves and bulbs are edible. Aromatic, contains a superb sweet, juicy, spicy and highly aromatic flavour, blending well in salads and other dishes. Cold hardy. Harvest in abundance from early spring to late autumn. Grows best in fertile sandy or light clay loam, in bright, sunny, warm location. Naturally nutritionally rich provides a great source of essential vitamins and minerals.
Growing: Not suitable for tropical climate.
Planting season: early spring, direct seeding once the soil can be worked, late fall before the start of the first frost.
Soil: well drained, fertile, rich in organic matter.
Sowing depth: 1.5-2.5cm (0.6-1in) deep.
Spacing: 15cm (5.9in)
Spacing rows: 10cm (4in) apart.
Light: full sun.
Moisture: regular watering to keep the soil moist.
Fertilizing: highly recommended. Add rich compost to the soil prior planting.
