Tomato 'Striped Stuffer' 50 Seeds Indeterminate Vegetable Heirloom

Indeterminate Tomato 'Stripped Stuffer' (Solanum lycopersicum) - a unique red tomato with bold golden-yellow stripes and an elongated, thick-walled shape. The fruits are naturally hollow with minimal seeds, ideal for stuffing with rice, cheese, curry, or meat fillings. Reaches 1–1.2 m tall, first ripe fruit: 75–85 days. A standout variety for container growing in tropical conditions.

  • Highly productive in pots of 20–25 litres or larger;
  • Excellent heat and humidity tolerance – performs reliably in Singapore’s climate;
  • Flavour: sweet-tangy, meaty flesh with low moisture, delicious raw or cooked.

Perfect for balconies, corridors, and small urban gardens. One plant can yield dozens of eye-catching fruits throughout the season, offering both ornamental appeal and practical harvest in limited space.

Companion planting: French Marigolds to deter whitefly, and basil, chives or mint to deter aphids and other pests.

Growing:

Pot: Minimum 30–40 litres (air-pruning pots or fabric bags best). 50–70 litre bags give highest yields. Use 1 plant per pot.
Sow 2 seeds per small pot, 5–6 mm deep. Germination: 5–10 days.
Soil: Mix: 40% coco peat or peat moss + 30% compost + 20% perlite/vermiculite + 10% burnt earth or vermicast. Add 1–2 handfuls slow-release 15-15-15 or organic fertiliser. pH 6.0–6.8.
Light: Full direct sun 6–8 hours daily (west- or south-facing balcony ideal). Morning sun + afternoon bright shade also works well in our intense heat.
Must stake or cage. Use 1.8–2.2 m bamboo/metal stake or strong tomato cage.
Watering: daily (morning best). Never let pot dry out completely, but never waterlog.
Fertilizing: Weeks 1–4 after transplant: weekly liquid seaweed or fish emulsion. • From first flower cluster: switch to high-potassium (e.g. Tomorite, 8-8-24, or fruiting veggie liquid) twice weekly. • Every 3–4 weeks: top-dress with handful of chicken-manure pellets or compost.
Polination (Critical in High Humidity):
1. Shake plants gently every morning 9–11 am (mimics wind).
2. Use an electric toothbrush or small fan pointed at flowers for 10 seconds.
3. Spray flowers lightly with water in the morning (helps pollen stick).
Common Problems & Solutions in tropical climate:
1. Blossom-end rot → calcium deficiency + uneven watering → keep soil evenly moist + weekly calcium foliar spray.
2. Fungal diseases (early blight, powdery mildew) → improve airflow, prune lower leaves, neem oil spray weekly as preventive.
3. Fruit cracking → sudden heavy rain after dry spell → mulch heavily + shelter during storms.
4. Whiteflies & aphids → yellow sticky traps + neem oil + dish soap spray.
5. Caterpillars (tomato hornworm) → hand-pick or use Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) spray.
