Perennial, stunning flowers reaching 15-30cm (5.9-11.8in) tall. Deciduous, clum-forming plant sets compact colorful heads of many flowers that come in snow white, lilac and pink colors with yellow eyes. Blossoms are 5-8cm (1.9-3in) wide, vivid and showy, fragrant, looking especially stunning in flower pots, balconies, as cut flowers, grown under the trees or flower gardens. Plant overwinters as large, above-ground buds with thick roots. Roots are surrounded by large, leathery scales. In spring and summer, the oblong, wrinkly leaves can grow up to 30cm (12in) long and have a toothed margin. Can grow 2-4 years in the same place. Requires to be covered during winter. Cold hardy.
Growing: year round in tropical climate.
Planting season: early spring, indoors, 6-8 weeks prior the last danger of frost is gone or direct seeding after the danger of last frost is gone.
Soil: well drained, light soil. Sprinkle the seeds on the surface of the soil and do not cover with extra layer, as they need light to germinate.
Sowing depth: surface sowing.
Spacing: 15-20cm (5.9-7.8in) apart.
Light: full sun/partial shade.
Watering: regular to keep the soil moist.
Fertilizing: optional.
