Lettuce Grand Rapids' 1400-2400 Seeds (Lactuca sativa) Vegetable Heirloom

Grand Rapids is the best known loose leaf lettuce variety. This variety produces medium to large upright, light green, wavy, filled leaves. The mild and flavorful leaves are frilled and crisp. Being an exceptionally fast grower, it is the earliest to bear. 28 days baby, 50 days mature. If left to mature it forms a head of loose leaves that reach 17-20cm (7 - 8”) tall. It is very vigorous and bolt tolerant. It's a cold tolerant variety, so for tropical/warm climates it's recommended to grow as cut-and-come-again baby greens. Can be sown every two weeks for continuous harvest. Easy and super fast growing, adding a wonderful crisp, juicy touch to salads, braising mixes, side dishes and more.

Planting: Year round in tropical climates; in temperate climates plant in late spring-early summer, after last frost, when soil is at least 65°F (18°C).

Soil: Fertile, well drained soil, rich in organic matter.

Sowing Depth: .25 inches (.6 cm) deep.

Spacing: At least 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.

Light: Full sun. Does not tolerate shade well.

Watering: Water when needed to make sure the soil is well moist, but not soggy.

Fertilizing: Highly recommended once or twice weekly to support healthy growth.
