Kale Organic 'Lacinato' 300-400 Seeds (Brassica oleracea L.) Vegetable Heirloom

Commonly called Tuscan or dinosaur kale, is a long traditions in Italian cuisine containing heirloom kale variety with significant dark green-blue, long, tender leaves with an embossed texture. Lacinato kale reaches 60-90cm (2-3ft) tall and posses delicate, sweet and slightly bitter, rich flavour making them perfect for pastas, soups, raw in salads, garnishes, egg dishes etc. Naturally packed with nutrients and wide range of health benefiting properties, kale is deservedly called as natural 'super food'. Easy to grow throughout summer and winter, it looks especially beautiful and tastes even sweeter when touched by frost. Can be harvested freshly anytime, as matured plants withstand -12 (10F) and below. One of the strongest and disease resistant of all vegetable. Can be grown for baby leaf (20-30 days) or full maturity (70-80 days).

Growing: Year round in tropical climates; in temperate climates - seeds can be sown directly once the soil can be worked or start inside 4-6 weeks prior the planting date.

Soil: Fertile, well-draining, slightly acidic soil, rich in organic matter. 

Sowing depth: Sow the seeds 1/4in (0.6cm) deep inside fertile, well drained soil preferably rich in organic matter. For baby leaves sow apprx 60 seeds/ft in 2-4in (5-10cm) bands in 3/4in (2cm) between the bands. For full size sow apprx 3 seeds every 8-10in (20-25cm), thinning to 8-10in (20-25cm).

Row spacing: 18-30in (46-76cm).

Moisture: Water regularly to keep the soil moist (not soggy!). Best when soil starts to get dry to the touch. 

Light: Warm, bright location with plenty of sunlight.

Fertilising: The high nitrogen content provided by organic matter is crucial for healthy leaf growth.
