An exciting and unique kale with finely lobed, deep emerald color leaves growing as dwarf, compact bush, reaching a size of 40-60cm tall. The young leaves are tender and delicious as baby greens—just right for tossing in salads. Allow the plant to reach full size, and you'll have the ideal stir-fry greens with a delightful zing and texture. Fizz has an erect plant habit for clean growth and easy harvest. This kale variety was specially bred to use young leaves in salads and braising mixes, adding an eye catching, smooth and nutty tasting flavour. Super easy to grow, ready for harvest in 40 days. Perfect for small spaces, can be grown indoors and outdoors. Frost tender, so can be harvested even during the cold months of the year.
Growing: Planting season: Year round in tropical climate; in temperate climates - Early spring, starting from transplants four weeks prior the last frost date or direct seeding once the soil can be worked. Fall, sowing seeds two months prior first expected frost for full size and up until frost for baby leaf.
Soil: Well drained, fertile soil high in organic matter, with a pH 6-7.5. Can tolerate slightly alkaline soil.
Sowing depth: 1/4-1/2in (0.6-1.2cm);
Plant spacing: Baby leaf, direct seeding - 60 seeds/ft in 2-4in (5-10cm) bands; Full size - 12-18in (30-45cm).
Row spacing: 18-30in (45-76cm) for full size.
