Indian Spinach 'Malabar' 10 Seeds (Basella rubra) Vegetable Heirloom

Climbing annual plant, also called Malabar spinach, valued for its nutritious and rich tasting dark green leaves and tiny, nutty fruits.This spinach variety grows in India and throughout the tropics. Can be grown in gardens, pots, balconies etc. Fresh leaves goes well in soups, fried, while the fruits adds nice flavour to marinates, drinks etc. Posses rich nutritional value.

Growing: Planting season: year round in tropical climates; in temperate climates, sow the seeds in spring, indoors, 6 weeks prior last frost and transplant after the last frost, when soil has warmed up.

Soil: moist, well drained, fertile, very rich in organic matter with a pH 6.5-6.8.

Sowing depth: 2cm (0.7in) deep.

Spacing: 60-70cm (23-27in) apart.

Light: full sun/partial shade.

Watering: regular to keep the soil well moist.

Fertilizing: add a plenty of organic matter into the soil prior planting.

USDA hardines zone 7 to 12.
