Super fragrant thyme variety from Southern region of Spain. It produces essential oils and looks incredible grown in pots, flower gardens, balconies. Adds fantastic, highly aromatic touch to a wide variety of dishes and drinks. Perennial shrub grows no more than 50cm tall and is perfect for small spaces. Long violet flowers held in cone-shaped clusters at the end of the stem look fascinating and is the signature of this thyme variety. Highly recommend in every garden that is looking for unique, not usually seen plants. Matures in 90-95 days.
Growing: During dry season in tropical climate, indoors with a controlled temp. In temperate climates - spring, indoors, 4-6 weeks prior the last date of spring frost; direct seeding after the danger of last frost has passed and soil is workable (May-Jun).
Soil: loamy, sandy, acidic to alkaline, well-draining soil with good air-circulation.
Sowing depth: 0.5cm (0.2in). Sprinkle the seeds on the surface of the soil and barely cover with extra layer.
Spacing: 20cm (7.8in).
Light: full sun. Thyme thrives in full sun (if afternoon sun is burning, provide some shade).
Watering: moderate, only when soil is dry to the touch.
Fertilizing: treat thyme plants each spring with a diluted all-purpose fertilizer. Keeping the fertilizer at half-strength will keep the plant from producing too much foliage, which can dilute its fragrant oils.
