Medium early heirloom ready for harvest in 120-150 days. Fruits are large, cylindrical shaped, dark purple, almost black colour with shinny, thin skin. Flesh is pure white and buttery smooth, rich flavoured, very delicious. Best for fresh consumption, stews, soups, salads. Warm season annuals.
Growing: year round in tropical climates; In temperate climates plant indoors 4-6 weeks prior the last frost date and transplant after the last frost is gone and temp has well warmed up.
Soil:Eggplants grow best in well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Add aged compost or commercial organic planting mix to planting beds ahead of planting and turn the soil to 30cm deep. Preferred soil pH: 5.5 to 6.8.
Planting depth: 1.2cm deep.
Germination period: within 7 days.
Container depth (if grown in containers): at least 30cm across and as deep. Choose a smaller growing variety for container growing.
Light: full sun. At least 8h a day.
Moisture: regular watering to keep the soil moist but not soggy.
